Biography: Zach Davis, M. Ed.
Zach Davis is the Creator and Host of the Mind of a Football Coach Podcast and an experienced educator, administrator, and football coach.
Educational and Professional Background
Zach Davis holds a Master of Science in Education with a Major in Educational Leadership (3.92 GPA) from Arkansas State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a Major in Fitness Specialist (3.1 GPA) from Liberty University. He holds several credentials, including an Advanced Professional License, Administrator 1, and certificates in Special Education and Physical Education in Maryland.
His professional experience seamlessly blends education and athletics:
• Administration & Education: Davis currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Queen Anne’s County High School (starting the 2025–2026 school year). Prior to this, he served as a Special Education Teacher and Head Football Coach at Kent Island High School during the 2024–2025 school year. He was also an Assistant Principal at Buckhannon-Upshur High School in West Virginia from 2022 to 2024, where his responsibilities included managing 504s, Discipline, IEP Meetings, and serving as the PSAT Test Coordinator.
• Coaching Leadership (Head Coach): As a Head Football Coach, he has led programs across Maryland and West Virginia, managing teams ranging from 55 to 90 players and commanding up to 12 assistant coaches.
◦ While coaching at Kent Island High School, his team made it to the second round of the MPSSAA playoffs in 2024.
◦ During his time at Buckhannon-Upshur High School (2021–2024), the team beat all three of their rivals in the same season for the first time in a decade, achieving their best record since the 2018 season in 2022.
◦ At Nitro High School (2018–2021), he was recognized as the winningest coach of the decade (2010–2019).
Athletic Experience
Zach Davis’s deep understanding of the game stems from his playing career at Liberty University, where he played all five positions on the offensive line. He was the starting left tackle in 2008 and was part of teams that won three Big South Conference Championships (2006–2008).
